Academic Affairs Committee

The main goal of the Academic Affairs Committee is to represent the academic needs of the Stevens student. The following are some of the main responsibilities of the committee, both explicitly from our constitution and bylaws and interpreted from the long term needs of students

Student-Faculty

Foster the relationship and represent the issues between the student-body and faculty.

Curriculum Advancment

Advocate for update, creation, and promotion of courses, degrees, and programs at Stevens.

Academic Rights

Uphold the rights of the Stevens student under the Stevens Honor System as pertaining to academics.

Student-Admin

Foster the relationship and represent the issues between the student-body and the Office of the Provost.

Student Advisory Boards

Maintain the quality and success of the student advisory boards at the University, School, Department, and Program level.

Honor Board System

Collaborate with the Honor Board and promote the values of the Stevens Honor System.

Collaboration

Collaborate with the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Honor Board, and Office of the Provost.

Academic Advertisement

Get the word out about initiatives, new courses, deadlines, and changes in the world of academic affairs.

Undergraduate Research

Promote, represent, and advocate for the value of research to undergraduate students and the value of undergraduate students to Stevens research.


Main Committee Initiatives

Undergraduate Research Week

In an effort to promote the existing infrastructure existing for undergraduate research, highlight the accomplishments already done by undergraduates in research, and advocate for increases to the quantity and quality of research done and availble to undergraduates, we are participating in National Undergraduate Researach Week (April 17th-21st).

Professional Society Conference Funding

In an effort to get more Stevens students to conventions, conferences, and meetings, we want to advocate for more funding from the University, Schools, Departments, and Industry Partners to fund costs related to attendence, travel, and presence at these events.

Chatbot Committee

Discuss how to integrate AI into Stevens education and revise academic policy that is threatened by this disruptive technology. Chaired by Dr. Eve Riskin, Dean of Undergraduate Education. Student representation by Nick Smith, Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee.
